Instagram NFC cards: what they do, what they cost, and when a profile card is better
A card or stand that opens your Instagram with one tap is a neat way to win followers at a counter or a stall. Here is how it works, what it costs, how to get the right link, and the one thing to know before you print a single link onto a chip.
An Instagram NFC card stores one link, your Instagram profile, so a tap opens it on the other person's phone. It is quick for winning followers but does one job: no phone number, no save-to-contacts, no booking or payment, and it breaks if you change your username. Themed social-media NFC cards sell from about ₹499 in India; a profile card with your Instagram on it does all of those jobs.
₹1,699 card, once · profile from ₹199/year · your logo printed free · usually arrives in 7-10 days
How an Instagram NFC card works
The chip in the card holds your Instagram profile link and nothing else. When a phone touches it, the phone reads the link and opens it, so your profile appears ready to follow. A single-link card is the same technology as a full NFC business card; only what the link points to is different.
Your Instagram link, and how much of a chip it takes
Get the link from Instagram itself: open your profile, tap Share profile, then Copy link. Instagram's profile card also carries your QR code. Type your username below to see the link and how many bytes it takes on a chip; it fits easily on the smallest common one, which holds 144 bytes.
Instagram's steps and the QR code are from its help page on the profile card, which is only on the iPhone and Android apps. NXP's NTAG 213, 215 and 216 hold 144, 504 or 888 bytes of user memory. How the bytes are counted is in are NFC business cards safe?
The one-link catch: what a single-link card can't do
A single-link card is built for one job and does it well: turning a tap into a follow. What it can't do is everything else a customer might want next - call you, save your number, see your prices, book or pay - and if you ever change your username, every card points at the old one.
Where a single-link card fits
- A stand at a café counter or a salon mirror, for followers
- A creator whose business lives on Instagram
- An event where the only ask is "follow us"
What it leaves out
- Your phone number, and saving you to their contacts
- Customers who don't use Instagram
- Prices, booking, enquiries and payment
- A new username, if you ever change it
Instagram NFC card prices in India
Themed NFC cards for social media sell from about ₹499 in India, in Beeps Card's index of Indian sellers' own published prices. That is less than a full profile card, and for a follow-only job it is a fair price. A profile card costs more because there is a hosted page behind it doing the other jobs.

A profile card with your Instagram on it
A profile card opens a page where Instagram is one button among the ones a customer needs: call, WhatsApp, save to contacts, your services and prices, booking and payment. Change your username and you change one link on the page; every card already handed out still works.
- Social links on every plan. Instagram, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, YouTube and more, with custom icons.
- Your Instagram feed on the page. Pro shows your Instagram and LinkedIn feeds on the profile itself.
- A printed QR code. For any phone without NFC, on the back of the card.
Instagram NFC cards: questions
What is an Instagram NFC card?
A card, sticker or stand with an NFC chip that stores one link: your Instagram profile. Someone taps it with their phone and your profile opens, ready to follow. It does that one job well; it doesn't share a phone number or save you to anyone's contacts.
How much does an Instagram NFC card cost in India?
Themed NFC cards for social media sell from about ₹499 in India, according to Beeps Card's index of sellers' own published prices. A Beeps card, which opens a full profile with your Instagram on it, is ₹1,699 once with a plan from ₹199 a year.
Can I make an Instagram NFC tag myself?
Yes. A blank NFC tag and a free NFC-writing app can store your Instagram link, which takes well under the 144 bytes of the smallest common chip. Lock the tag after writing so nobody can change it, and remember that a locked tag can never point anywhere else.

Where do I get my Instagram profile link?
In the Instagram app: go to your profile, tap Share profile, then Copy link. The same screen shows your profile QR code, which you can download. Instagram says the profile card is only on the iPhone and Android apps.

What if I change my Instagram username?
A card that stores your Instagram link directly will point at the old username, so it breaks. A card that opens a profile page you control keeps working: change the Instagram link on the page, and every card already handed out follows.
