Work in a profession that isn't listed here? Tell us what you hand out today and we'll show you what the profile would carry instead.
The same card, pointed at very different pages
The physical card is identical whichever profession you are in. What changes completely is what should be on the page it opens, and in what order — and that ordering is most of whether the thing works.
A doctor's patient wants a location, consulting hours and a booking slot, and does not need a portfolio. A photographer's client wants exactly the portfolio and will not book without seeing it. A component supplier's buyer wants a specification sheet they can forward to a purchase committee. Put any one of those layouts in front of the wrong audience and the profile reads as noise.
That is why these pages exist separately rather than as one page with a list of features. Each one is about the sequence a particular kind of buyer moves through, and what has to be on screen at each step.
If your profession is not listed
The reasoning transfers. Work through these and you will land close to the right layout.
- Write down the question the person you just met is silently asking. Almost every profile should answer that in its first screen.
- Decide whether your work needs to be seen to be sold. If it does, the gallery goes above everything except your name.
- Decide whether the next step is a booking, an enquiry or a payment, and put exactly one of them first.
- Identify the one fact about you that changes most often. That is the field that belongs on the profile rather than on the print.
- Tell us what you hand out today and we will suggest the layout — it costs nothing and we would rather you set it up correctly than not.
