Is an NFC card's yearly plan worth it? What the fee pays for

Some NFC cards are sold once; others, Beeps Card included, have a yearly plan. This guide sets out what that fee pays for, what the same jobs cost bought separately, and how to tell whether it pays for itself in your work.

It depends on what the card has to do. If it only shares your number, a one-time card covers that. If the tap should take enquiries, bookings, payments or reviews, the yearly plan is what keeps that page hosted, working and improving. On Beeps Card that is ₹199 a year on Basic, about ₹17 a month, or ₹299 on Pro with UPI payments.

What the yearly fee pays for

The card is the cheap part: it stores a link and is paid for once. The fee is for the page that link opens, and that page costs something every year whoever sells it.

Hosting that answers every tap

Your profile lives on servers that have to answer every tap, and keep your photos, files and contact list, for as long as your cards are in people’s wallets.

The tools on the page

A booking calendar, an enquiry inbox, a payment button and visit analytics are software that runs every day. A page that takes work is not a static file.

Upkeep and new features

Phones, browsers and payment apps change every year. Software someone is paid to maintain keeps working through those changes, gets security fixes, and gains features. On Beeps, what is added to your plan reaches the cards you already have.

Each job the profile does is also sold on its own. One published example per job, read off each vendor's own pricing page, next to the free route where one exists.

These tools are good at what they are built for, and do more in their own lane than a profile does: a full website with many pages, team scheduling, a creator storefront, every payment method. Several have free tiers that cover a small business well, and the table names them. The point is narrower. For the everyday version of each job, one profile covers all of them for ₹299 a year, and the card you hand over opens it.

Prices are each vendor's own on the date read: Hostinger and Linktree on 28 September 2026, Calendly and Razorpay on 24 October 2026. Dollar prices are shown in dollars, because the rupee figure moves with the exchange rate. Website vs digital card works through the website comparison in full.

Year three, year five

The upkeep question every pricing model has to answer

Every NFC card that opens a page depends on software someone keeps running and up to date. How that work is paid for shapes what the page is like in its fifth year. All three models below are used by real sellers, and all three can work.

A one-time price

Upkeep is paid from the card price and from new card sales. That works well while sales keep coming in.

Worth asking: what has been added to the profile since it launched, and who pays for the servers if card sales slow down.

Years included

Upkeep is paid in advance for a set run of years, inside the card price. You know what is covered and until when.

Worth asking: what the page does, and what it costs, once the included years end.

A yearly plan

Upkeep is paid as it happens, by the people using the product. That is how Beeps Card works.

Worth asking: what has improved in the last year. A fee is only worth paying while the product keeps getting better.

What falling behind looks like

Software nobody is paid to maintain rarely breaks in a day. It falls behind: pages get slower as phones and browsers change, features stay where they were the year they were built, and fixes take longer to arrive. That can happen under any pricing model. A steady income for upkeep makes it less likely, not impossible.

None of this is a claim about any seller; many one-time sellers keep their pages current. It is the question worth settling before you put one link on a few hundred cards, because the card cannot be changed once it is in someone else's wallet, and the page behind it can.

Your numbers

Does it pay for itself? A quick check

Enter what you keep from one sale, booking or advance after your costs. The check counts how many of those the card has to bring in each year to cover the plan.

A consultation fee, a site-visit charge, the margin on one order. Count only work the card brings in.

1 sale

a year to cover Basic, ₹199

1 sale

a year to cover Pro, ₹299

4 sales

to cover the first year with the card, ₹1,898 on Basic

The plan earns its keep when
  • you quote prices, and people ask "how much?" after meeting you
  • work starts with an appointment or a site visit
  • you take advances, fees or small orders
  • Google reviews bring you customers
  • you need the other person's number, not only to give yours
A one-time card fits when

all you ever hand over is a name and a number, and none of the jobs on the left is part of your work. If that changes, Beeps Basic at ₹199 a year adds the price list, enquiries, booking and contact exchange to the same tap.

Over three years a Beeps Card costs ₹2,296 on Basic or ₹2,596 on Pro, the card included. NFC business card features walks through what each part of the profile does, and the after-tap test compares any two cards.

FAQ

Yearly plan questions

Is an NFC business card subscription worth it?

It is worth it when the page behind the card does work for you: shows your prices, takes enquiries and bookings, collects payments or asks for reviews. If the card only shares your number, a one-time card covers that job. On Beeps Card the plan is ₹199 a year on Basic, about ₹17 a month, or ₹299 on Pro with UPI payments, so a single sale or booking a year that earns you that much covers it.

What do I get for ₹299 a year on Beeps Card?

Pro is one hosted profile with your contact buttons, two-way contact exchange, products and services with prices, an enquiry form that takes files, appointment booking, social links, a Pay via UPI button that pays straight to your bank, a Google review button, analytics, and payment gateway integration. The NFC card that opens it is ₹1,699 once. Basic, at ₹199, has everything except the UPI button, the review button, analytics and the gateway.

Can a business profile stand in for a website?

For the everyday jobs of a small business, often yes: a page with your services and prices, contact buttons, booking and payments is most of what a one-page website did. It does not replace a site with many pages, a full online store or email at your own domain. Our website vs digital card guide sets the two side by side.

Will a one-time NFC card keep working for years?

The chip will: it has no battery and nothing to wear out. The page it opens depends on the seller keeping the service running and up to date, which is true of every hosted profile, yearly plan or not. Ask any seller what has changed in their product over the last year and what the price covers in year three.
