Digital Visiting Card for Mutual Fund Distributors
For mutual fund distributors - India

A digital visiting card for mutual fund distributors, built on AMFI's 2026 rules

A distributor's card has to carry a tagline and an ARN, use the right title, and never promise a return. AMFI's January 2026 master circular puts each of those rules in one place.

The short answer

Yes. AMFI's master circular says a mutual fund distributor must show the name, the ARN and the tagline 'AMFI-registered Mutual Fund Distributor' together on every website, printed card and electronic material. Do not use titles like adviser or IFA, do not promise returns, and use only the fund house's own marketing material.

The one rule everyone gets asked about

Three lines that sit together on every card, page and signboard

Under clause 1.3.6, AMFI requires a distributor to display a tagline along with or below their name and ARN, in a clear and legible font, in all forms of communication. The circular lists websites, mobile apps, printed or electronic materials, business cards and signboards.

The block, as AMFI describes it
1. Your registered name
Your name or firm
2. The tagline
AMFI-registered Mutual Fund Distributor
3. Your ARN code
ARN: your number

A placeholder, not a real distributor. Use your registered name and your own ARN, exactly as AMFI issued it.

Firm name check

Is your firm name on AMFI's acceptable list?

Under SEBI's Investment Advisers Regulations, no one distributing securities may use the name Independent Financial Adviser, IFA, Wealth Adviser "or any other similar name" unless registered with SEBI as an Investment Adviser. AMFI turned that into two lists of names. Type yours below to see where it falls. The check runs in your browser and sends nothing anywhere.

For example "Jay Wealth Management" or "Jay Associates Mutual Fund Distributors".

AMFI says its lists are illustrative, not complete. If your name is on neither list, AMFI's circular tells you to email contact@amfiindia.com and ask before you print anything.

Names AMFI lists as acceptable (46)

After your brand name: Asset, Asset Distribution, Asset Services, Capital, Capital Distribution, Capital Services, Edge Distribution, Edge Investment, Enterprises, Fin, Finance, Financial, Financial Distribution, Financial Investment, Financial Services, Finmart, Finserve, Finserv, Finvest, Fundmart, Fundsmart, Invest, Investmart, Investment Services, Investments, Investor Services, Investor Shoppee, Ltd, LLP, MF Services, Money, Money Services, Moneymart, Mutual Fund Distribution, Mutual Fund Distributors, Mutual Fund Services, Partners, Prime Distributors, Prime Distribution, Prime Investment, Prime Investments, Prime Wealth, Securities, Securities Distribution, Services, Wealth.

Names AMFI lists as not acceptable (65)

After your brand name: Adviser, Advisor, Advisory Services, Capital Adviser, Capital Management, Consultancy Services, Consultants, Consulting, Corporate Advisory, Financial Consultancy, Financial Consultancy Services, Financial Consultant, Financial Consultants, Financial Consulting, Financial Planner, Financial Planners, Financial Planning, Financial Solutions, FinPlan, Finsol, Finsolutions, Fund Adviser, IFA, Independent Financial Adviser, Investment Consulting, Investment Adviser, Investment Consultancy, Investment Consultancy Services, Investment Consultant, Investment Consultants, Investment Manager, Investment Managers, Investment Planners, Investment Solutions, Money Manager, Multi Wealth Investments, Planner, Planners, Solution, Solutions, Wealth Adviser, Wealth Advisers, Wealth Advisor, Wealth Advisors, Wealth Advisory, Wealth Advisory Services, Wealth Care, Wealth Chanakya, Wealth Consultancy, Wealth Consultants, Wealth Consulting, Wealth Creator, Wealth Creators, Wealth Express, Wealth Investments, Wealth Mall, Wealth Management, Wealth Manager, Wealth Planner, Wealth Plus, Wealth Services, Wealth Solution, Wealth Solutions, Wealth Vision, Wealth Yantra.

The rule does not stop at the registered name. AMFI passes on SEBI's line that a distributor's name should reflect the registration held and should not create an impression of performing a role for which the entity is not registered. The headline under your name on the profile is part of that impression, so write "Mutual fund distributor" there, not "Financial planner".

Each answer comes from AMFI's master circular, with the clause behind it. The table lists 20 items: 7 marked "Show it", 6 marked "Needs care" and 7 marked "Leave off".

Needs care. You need the AMC’s prior written approval before you display its name, logo or mark. Ask the AMC first and keep the reply.

Where the content comes from

Most of the profile should be the fund house's words, not yours

The code of conduct says you shall use marketing material as is provided by the AMCs and not design your own for any scheme. For a profile, that changes what you write yourself and what you link to.

Write it yourself
  • Who you are and how to reach you.
  • What you do, in plain words: "I help people start and keep SIPs."
  • The name, the tagline and the ARN.
  • Which fund houses you work with, and that other products exist.
  • A reminder to read the scheme documents, and that returns are not guaranteed.
Link to it or upload it unchanged
  • Factsheets, KIMs and brochures from the fund house.
  • Scheme performance and portfolio figures.
  • Any fund house name or logo, once the AMC has approved it in writing.
  • Your commission disclosure and the scheme documents.

This page explains AMFI's published circular. It is not legal or compliance advice. Your AMC and AMFI decide how the rules apply to you.

FAQ

Questions from mutual fund distributors

Can a mutual fund distributor use a digital visiting card?

Yes. AMFI does not ban it, and its master circular names websites, mobile apps, electronic material and business cards as places where the same rules apply. So a digital profile has to carry your name, the tagline "AMFI-registered Mutual Fund Distributor" and your ARN together, and it has to follow the code of conduct like any other material.

Sources: Association of Mutual Funds in India

What must the profile and the printed card show?

Your registered name, the tagline "AMFI-registered Mutual Fund Distributor" and your ARN, placed together in a clear, legible font. On printed material the tagline must be at least font size 12. A distributor who is also registered for Specialised Investment Funds uses the tagline "AMFI Registered Mutual Fund Distributor & SIF Distributor" with the ARN.

Can I call myself a financial adviser, wealth manager or IFA?

Not unless you are registered with SEBI as an Investment Adviser. AMFI quotes SEBI’s Investment Advisers Regulations, 2013, regulation 3(3), and says a distributor’s name and role should not create an impression of a role the distributor is not registered for. Titles such as adviser, financial planner, consultant, wealth manager and IFA are on its list of names that are not acceptable.

Can I show returns, or a calculator that projects them?

Do not indicate or assure returns for a particular scheme or transaction, and do not give an indicative portfolio or yield. Past performance must follow SEBI’s disclosure rules, so use the fund house’s own material. A general SIP calculator is a grey area: keep it generic, label the rate as an assumption, and never tie it to a named scheme.

Can I use a fund house’s logo or make my own scheme poster?

You may not design your own marketing material for a scheme, and you may not show an AMC’s name, logo or mark without that AMC’s prior written approval. Use the material the fund house gives you, unchanged.

Sources: Association of Mutual Funds in India

Can I offer a gift or cashback for starting an SIP?

No. The code of conduct says a distributor must not rebate or pass back commission and must refrain from attracting investors through inducements such as rebates, gifts or gift vouchers.

Sources: Association of Mutual Funds in India

Do I have to show my commission?

You have to disclose to investors all commissions you receive or may receive on the competing schemes you are recommending from. If you run a digital page where clients invest, it must say that the plan is a Regular Plan that pays you commission, and it must carry a prominent link to your commission rates and to the scheme documents.

Which AMFI document is current?

The AMFI Master Circular for Mutual Fund Distributors of 14 January 2026. It collects every AMFI circular on distributors up to 31 December 2025 and rescinds them, including the 2020 guidance on names and the 2022 revised code of conduct. A guide that cites those older circulars is out of date.

Do my clients need an app to open the card?

No. A tap on the NFC card or a scan of the QR code opens the profile in the phone’s browser, and the client can save your contact in one tap.

Also for licensed professions: insurance agents and IRDAI’s 2024 rules, chartered accountants and ICAI’s guidelines and advocates and Bar Council Rule 36. See every profession on the industries page, or read how the digital visiting card itself works.
